We recently launched the MadWe Traineeship, a new 6-month trainee program running from January to June 2025. Designed to challenge exclusive industry structures, this program provides equitable opportunities for diverse talent to start their creative careers. From the Mad Men era to the Mad We era
Since the 1960s, the advertising industry has been known as a male-dominated field, a notion brilliantly dramatized by the award-winning TV series Mad Men. Inspired by this, SEK has been running the Mad Women campaign on International Women’s Day for over seven years to promote gender equality in the marketing industry.
In 2023, instead of focusing solely on Women’s Day, we decided to broaden our commitment to equity and celebrate Equality Day. The campaign was renamed MadWe. The campaign was launched with a MadWe workshop for young people from underrepresented backgrounds. The day was a success, so we decided to expand the workshop into an internship program.
One of SEK’s responsibility goals, starting in 2024, is to increase diversity in the creative industry and make it an attractive option for young people from underrepresented backgrounds. That’s why now is the right time to launch the creative MadWe trainee program.
Mad Men ajasta Mad We aikakauteen
Mainostoimistoala tuli 60-luvulta lähtien tunnetuksi varsin miesvaltaisena alana, jota on dramatisoinut oivallisesti palkittu Mad Men tv-sarja. Siitä inspiroituneena SEK on tehnyt Mad Women kampanjan naistenpäivänä tasa-arvon edistämiseksi markkinointialalla jo yli seitsemän vuoden ajan.
Vuonna 2023 pelkän naisten päivän sijaan päätimme panostaa yhdenvertaisuuteen laajemmin ja siirtyä juhlistamaan tasa-arvon päivää. Kampanjan nimeksi muodostui MadWe. Kampanja lanseerattiin pitämällä päivän MadWe workshop nuorille, jotka tulivat aliedustetuista taustoista. Päivä oli menestys, joten päätimme laajentaa workshopin harjoitteluohjelmaksi.
Yksi SEKin vastuullisuustavoite vuodesta 2024 alkaen on lisätä luovan alan monimuotoisuutta ja tehdä siitä houkutteleva vaihtoehto aliedustetuista taustoista tuleville nuorille. Siksi juuri nyt on oikea aika lanseerata luova MadWe -traineeohjelma.
